Zoe Oli is the owner of Beautiful Curly Me, a company she started with her mom Evana to empower young Black girls to love their hair. When Zoe was 6-years-old, she came home asking her mom why her hair wasn’t “straight and pretty” like the other girls in her class. That’s when the two decided they would begin researching to find dolls whose hair reflected Zoe’s. When they couldn’t find any dolls with braids and curls, Beautiful Curly Me was born.

The mother-daughter duo began creating dolls that reflected Zoe, eventually expanding the company to include a line of products that empower Black girls and their hair, including books, face masks, clothing, sleep caps, and hair accessories. Zoe has also written books and accompanied activity sheets to go with the dolls. Zoe hopes that her story will inspire other young girls and the next generation to not only love their hair, but love the skin they’re in as well.
