Waffles + Mochi is a new children’s show from the Obama’s Higher Ground Productions. The show focuses on teaching young children how to eat healthier and is a collaborative effort between Michelle Obama and the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA). PHA focuses on “help[ing] kids build healthy habits and help[ing] families in need cook with fresh ingredients together at home,” and Obama has been serving as honorary chair.

“I’m excited for families and children everywhere to join us on our adventures as we discover, cook, and eat delicious food from all over the world,” the Forever First Lady tweeted.

Mrs. Obama will serve as executive producer and the star of the show, acting as a supermarket owner alongside the two puppets, Waffles and Mochi, as the trio work to become chefs while learning the importance of a wellness-inspired lifestyle.

Netflix’s Strong Black Lead tweeted about the new show, saying, “They come from the land of frozen foods and with the help of friendly new faces like the supermarket owner, Mrs. Obama, Waffles and Mochi blast off on global ingredient missions, traveling to kitchens, restaurants, farms, and homes all over the world.”

Since her time in the White House, Obama has always been an advocate for preventing childhood obesity, launching her “Let’s Move!” campaign to provide families with access to affordable food. The new series is an extension of that and is the first preschool series from Higher Ground.

Waffles + Mochi is set to air on March 16th on Netflix!
