Kryst took to social media to congratulate Tunzi on her historic win Sunday night. “Congrats to our new Miss Universe, @zozitunzi!!!! You represented us with class and grace and humility and I’m thrilled that I can call you a sister and, now, ROOMMATE!! Swipe for a little #BGM because, you guessed it, Miss Universe, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, and Miss America are all women of color!!!!!!!”

Her reference to #BGM, also known as #BlackGirlMagic was floating all through the social media waves after the crowning of Tunzi as Miss Universe this weekend. Tunzi is the first Black South African to win the title and this is the first time in history that all of the major pageants have crowned a Black woman in the same year.

What we love about this most is the fact that two, intelligent, beautiful Black women are supporting one another and exemplifying what it means to be your sister’s keeper on a world stage.

The two shared their excitement online posting, “ya’ll we’ve already started matching, this is only day one!”

The Miss Universe pageant was held at the new Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. After her win, Tunzi took to Instagram to share her thoughts. “Tonight a door was opened and I could not be more grateful to have been the one to have walked through it. May every little girl who witnessed this moment forever believe in the power of her dreams and may they see their faces reflected in mine,” she said.

As Miss Universe, Tunzi will now be responsible for being the face of a number of the organization’s initiatives. She will be working to create positive change through volunteering, fundraising and advocacy. And with Kryst as her roommate, I’m sure the two will be showing up in a big way. Because what happens when two Black Queens get together? Queen things!

We are so inspired!
