The 9-year-old won her first Grammy Award Sunday afternoon, at the award show’s Premiere Ceremony. At 8-years-old Carter received a Grammy nomination for her appearance in her mom Beyonce’s “Brown Skin Girl” video. Both Beyonce and Blue’s father, Jay Z, are two of the most nominated musical performers in Grammy history, with Jay-Z tied for 80 nominations with Quincy Jones and Beyonce right behind him, tied with Paul McCartney for 79.

Leah Peasall of The Peasall Sisters made history as the youngest nominee when she was featured on the “O Brother, Where Are Thou?” soundtrack at 8-years-old in 2001. Now, Blue joins her, breaking more records as she soars to the top.

Blue Ivy, mom Beyonce, artists Saint John and Wizkid were all nominated in the same category, against Future and Drake’s “Life Is Good,” and Anderson.Paak’s “Lockdown.
