Chicago native, Chance the Rapper, continues to demonstrate his passionate commitment to uplifting Black communities. He has recently confirmed a new movie musical project, entitled “Hope” that he and MGM Studios will soon bring to life on the big screen.

“Hope” will chronicle the lives of a group of Chicago teenagers who leverage their artistic expressions to make significant impacts on their community. Producers Pat Corcoran and Scott Bernstein, who produced “Straight Outta Compton,” are slated to produce the movie. “Empire” writer, Carlito Rodriguez will oversee the scripting.

Chicago-based songwriter and producer Nico Segal (formerly known as Donnie Trumpet) will lead the creation of the project’s original music. Segal has been a long-time collaborator with Chance, including forming a group called “The Social Experiment” which debuted the album “Surf” in 2015.

While many details of his new movie project are yet to be determined, it’s clear that Chance is excited to consider the impact that the project will make. He took to Instagram earlier this week to simply state: “Deal done with MGM, Hope is on its way.”

We can’t wait to support this new ‘labor of love’ right along with you, Chance! Congratulations!
