Since making their professional debuts in the mid 90’s, Venus and Serena Williams have gone on to completely dominate the world of tennis. Between the two of them, they have won 29 major singles titles, made sports history, a few times, and become two of the best women tennis players in the world. While we love to see Venus and Serena play on the same side of the court, what we love even more is the incredible way they continue to support one other when they’re not.
On Saturday, the tennis greats will face off in the Australian Open final. They haven’t played in a grand slam final against each other since 2009, nor faced each other in an Australian Open final since 2003. Venus’ recent win against CoCo Vandeweghe in the semi-finals makes her the oldest women’s finalist in the history of the Open Era of the Australian Open.

This is Venus’ second time reaching an Australian Open final, her first was in 2003, when her sister Serena won the title. Serena said of her sister’s semi-final win: “I am really proud of Venus – she is a total inspiration. I am really happy for her and to be in the final together is a dream for us.”
If Serena wins on Saturday, she will have a record-setting 23 grand slam titles, which is more than any other player in the history of the Open Era.
