It’s A Win For The Williams Family: Serena Advances To Fourth Round Of U.S. Open

On Friday night, Venus and Serena Williams faced each other for the 30th time in their professional careers. Serena went on to defeat her older sister 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the fourth round of the U.S. Open.  

Ahead of their much anticipated match, Venus shared a flashback Friday family photo with her little sister and father Richard Williams, along with the caption: “Thanks mom, thanks dad, Serena Williams 20 great years and it ain’t over yet.”

The match marked the Williams sisters’ earliest meeting in a Grand Slam tournament since 1998. After winning her third-round match, Serena said: “She’s my best friend. She means the world to me. Every time she loses, I feel like I do. It’s not very easy, but it’s a tournament. We know there’s more to life than just playing each other and playing tennis.”
