You might want to remember the name Jewell Jones.
In 2015, Jones became the youngest person to sit on the City Council of Inkster, Michigan. The following year, he made history again when he was elected as Michigan's youngest state representative. Did we mention that Jones is also a member of the Michigan National Guard? With a strong passion for service, the 22-year-old has now taken his civic engagement one step further by becoming a sworn Auxiliary Police Officer in his hometown of Inkster, Michigan.
He shared the news on social media along with a caption that read: "So.... I became a sworn Auxiliary Police Officer after 21 rigorous weeks of training. Be the change you would like to see!!!"
Jones, who graduated from the University of Michigan-Dearborn this past April, told Rolling Stone Magazine: "My parents planted the seed of civic engagement a long time ago. They made sure I was out canvassing and invested my time in the community and organizations that we support."
Kudos to mom and dad for instilling the values of service. And congratulations, Jewell! We can't wait to see what you'll do next.
