Netflix Just Bought A Female-Led Action Thriller From 'Underground' Co-Creator Misha Green

While we hope "Underground", which was recently canceled by WGN America after two seasons, finds a new television home, its co-creator Misha Green is giving us something else to look forward to- a new project with Netflix!

On Friday, it was announced that the streaming giant has acquired rights to Green's speculative screenplay, "Mother", in a seven- figure deal. Written with franchise potential in mind, the action-thriller, according to Deadline, is centered on a female protagonist "in a scenario reminiscent of 'The Professional' and 'La Femme Nikita'."

Green will produce the film along with "The LEGO Batman Movie" producer Roy Lee. In addition to this new project, Green is also set to team up with "Get Out" director Jordan Peele and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" director J.J. Abrams to adapt Matt Ruff's fantasy horror novel "Lovecraft Country" for HBO. For this project, Green will write the pilot and be its showrunner, while also serving as executive producer alongside Peele and Abrams.

Let's just say, Misha Green is definitely here to stay and we can't wait to see all the  stories she'll create and help bring to life in the future.
