Oprah Winfrey Enters Multi-Year Partnership Deal With Apple As Part Of $1 Billion Programming Push

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey is continuing to build her empire. Recently, Apple announced that they are entering a multi-year partnership deal with Winfrey as part of their $1 billion programming push for new content, reports The Guardian.

In a statement released on its website, Apple said they “will create original programs that embrace (Winfrey's) incomparable ability to connect with audiences around the world.”

In addition to content from Winfrey, TechCrunch reports that Apple’s programming line-up will also include a thriller starring Octavia Spencer, a Kevin Durant-inspired scripted basketball show, a reboot of Steven Spielberg’s Amazing Stories, and several other shows.

Apple says the deal will not conflict with Winfrey’s OWN contract, which is the television network she launched in 2011. Recently, the 64-year-old extended her contract with her OWN network through 2025.

The tech giant's partnership with Winfrey comes on the heels of several streaming platforms announcing new deals with top talent, including Netflix’s multi-year deal with former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama.  

So far, there are no details on whether Winfrey will appear in any of the shows with Apple. But either way, we’re sure whatever content they produce will be worth watching.
