March 24, 2017

At 110-years-old, Richard Overton is the nation’s oldest living World War II Veteran. On Thursday night, the San Antonio Spurs celebrated their special Military Appreciation Night by honoring Mr. Overton during their game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Overton enlisted in the Army in 1942 and served with the 1887th Engineer Aviation Battalion. The Spurs also wore military-inspired camouflage uniforms and presented the Army veteran with his very own Spurs camouflage jersey with his name and age on the back. As Overton came onto the court to be honored, he received a well-deserved standing ovation.
