Recently in Peoria, Illinois, a sculpture of comedic genius, Richard Pryor, was unveiled. The statue, created by sculptor, Preston Jackson, celebrates the life and impact Pryor had on the world.

Despite having a harsh childhood, Pryor grew up to be one of the most influential comedians of the 20th century. As an adult, he experienced many highs and lows; however, he used his comedic voice to share his personal life and take responsibility for his actions. Pryor also used his platform to address racial, political, and social issues. His influence can be seen in some of today’s most successful comedians, such as Cedric the Entertainer, Mike Epps, D.L. Hughley, George Lopez, and Eddie Griffin, all of whom supported and made contributions to the statue in his honor.
