Back in February, we reported that the legendary James Earl Jones will be reprising his role of Mufasa in Jon Favreau’s upcoming live-action remake of "The Lion King," and actor/writer extraordinaire Donald Glover will be starring as Simba.
Disney has now announced the rest of the voice cast, which in addition to Jones and Glover, is full of Black excellence. Posting the news on its social media accounts on Wednesday evening, the all-star cast includes: Alfre Woodard as Simba's mother Sarabi, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Simba's childhood best friend Nala, Chiwetel Ejifor as Mufasa's jealous brother Scar, John Kani as Rakifi, Eric André as Azizi, Florence Karumba as Shenzi, Keegan-Michael Key as Kamari, and JD McCrary and Shahidi Wright Joseph as young Simba and Nala.
According to Disney's caption, we can expect the live-action remake to hit the big screen in the summer of 2019.
