February 28, 2017 · BOTWC Staff
Today marks the last day of Black History Month, but here at Because of Them We Can, the celebration continues year-round. Black history is rich, inspiring, relevant and the very thing that connects the next generation to its powerful past. But, before the day ends, check out these adorable kids who embraced Black History Month the Because of Them We Can Way.
Today our little person will present a History Maker at school. She is Elizabeth Bessie Coleman. While studying facts, my daughter looked at me and proclaimed "I can fly an airplane too!" Of course you can daughter. And you can sing, dance, paint, be a doctor, chef, mathematician or whatever else you can dream of. Maddie is my motivation. Be inspired to dream like children today. Their imagination knows no limits. #becauseofthemwecan #BessieColeman #BlackHistory #IamBlackHistory #HistoryMaker #LadiesFirst #Herstory #BHM @becauseofthem

In second grade, students celebrated Black History month by researching and representing an African American they admire. They dressed like the person and shared a lesson we can all learn from him/her. Some of the people represented include: Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, Hank Aaron, and Michelle Obama. #becauseofthemwecan #blackhistorymonth
