This could be one of the greatest examples of history repeating itself.

Sisters Layla and Roxy Phillips are only six and four-year-olds, but they are already blazing their own trail on the golf course. The siblings are from Compton, California and they have been playing the game since the early age of two.

“They are very, very good. I can only compare them to the Williams sisters in tennis,” said Luis Batson, CEO of a nonprofit organization called Help Youth Through Golf.

In fact, Layla, 6, recently won a Southern California PGA Drive, Chip and Putt Competition, which qualified her for the IMG Academy Junior World Championships in San Diego, July 10-14.

Like Venus and Serena Williams, the Phillips sisters are bringing their Black girl magic to a white dominated sport and showing great promise on the course.

Their introduction to golf came by way of their mother writing a letter to a Los Angeles golf course. In it, she requested the golf course to figure out a way to stop the balls from landing in her backyard. Along with an apology, the Maggie Hathaway Golf Course also offered the family golf lessons.

“In our family education is always the first priority, so our first goal is full ride scholarships to Stanford, and everything else after that is icing on the cake,” said mom Jasimen Phillips.

Watch out world, the Phillips sisters have incredibly bright futures ahead of them.
