Today, we celebrate the birthdate of civil rights pioneer, Rosa Parks. From being a member of the NAACP, to getting arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white passenger in 1955, to becoming one of the catalysts of the civil rights movement as a result of her civil disobedience, Ms. Parks' incredible bravery and lifelong commitment to justice and equality continues to be an inspiration to us all. It was about celebrating their journey to reach this point; therefore, it turned into an extremely special and emotional moment for many of the students, as they thanked the people, like their families, teammates, and coaches, who helped them along the way. Little Daliyah Marie Arana has big goals! At age 4, she has read over 1,000 books and is on a literacy mission to read 99,000 more. Her parents, who have been reading to her since she was born, have nurtured their daughter's love for books by enrolling her in a reading program called 1,000 Books B4 Kindergarten. Daliyah entered the program at a Georgia Public Library at age two and completed it back in October. What does Daliyah want to be when she grows up?
