Proud Son Moment: Comedian Loyiso Gola's 58-Year-Old Mother Graduates From College

Two-time Emmy-nominated comedian, Loyiso Gola just had a proud son moment. Today, his 58-year-old mother graduated from the University of the Western Cape. Loyiso's mother has always dreamt of pursuing a higher education, but as a result of the South African apartheid, her dream was put on hold. Apartheid was a system of legalized racial segregation and discrimination put in place by South Africa's National Party in 1948. This Daughter Gave Her Dad The Perfect Shirt To Celebrate Him Being Cancer-Free

A few days ago, 24-year-old MacKenzie Taylor took to social media to share that her father Ronnie Taylor was declared cancer-free. MacKenzie wrote on her personal blog that her father "endured a complete hip replacement, 6 rounds of chemotherapy to his body, 4 rounds of chemotherapy into his spinal fluid, a bald head, countless lab draws, numerous scans, thousands of pills, and so many doctor appointments." However, through it all, she said "he never complained once." Mr. Taylor was diagnosed with stage four Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma about seven months ago, and since then, MacKenzie has been documenting inspirational parts of his road to recovery online....

At 110-years-old, Richard Overton is the nation's oldest living World War II Veteran. On Thursday night, the San Antonio Spurs celebrated their special Military Appreciation Night by honoring Mr. Overton during their game against the Memphis Grizzlies.  A special #SpursSalute for Mr. Richard Overton, the oldest living WWII veteran. If we had to choose one word to describe 16-year-old Rebecca Schmitt, it would be resilient. In 2010, Rebecca's mother was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a treatable, but incurable type of blood cancer. "After her bone marrow transplant (in 2012), my mom was rendered disabled and unable to work," Rebecca said.  As a result of the unforeseen circumstance, by October 2014, they were evicted from their home due to foreclosure. The two then relocated from West Palm Beach, Florida, to San Diego, California to seek the best healthcare for Rebecca's mother.
