A Different World, a spin-off from The Cosby Show, aired for six seasons on NBC, becoming a cultural phenomenon and consistently ranking first or second among Black viewers. The show’s influence is often cited as a pivotal factor in the decision of many to attend an HBCU. With a mission that surpasses mere nostalgia, the cast hopes to ignite awareness and drive enrollment for HBCUs across the nation, People reports.

According to the tour’s official website, the tour is made possible through a partnership with presenting sponsor, Cisco, and premier finance partner, Wells Fargo. By participating in this tour, attendees contribute to raising scholarship funds that will open doors for more students to access the unparalleled experience of HBCUs. Kicking off in Atlanta, Georgia on February 29th, the tour will visit the Atlanta University Center, encompassing Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, and Morehouse College. The journey continues with a stop at Howard University in Washington, D.C., before heading to Montgomery, Alabama, to connect with students at Alabama State University and Tuskegee University.

The cast of A Different World has come together to celebrate our 35-year legacy and make more history with today’s HBCUs and tomorrow’s leaders!” said Darryl Bell, who portrayed Ron Johnson, to People. The mission statement emphasizes their commitment to rewriting the narrative, reflecting the cast’s dedication to creating a lasting impact on HBCUs nationwide. As students, faculty, and staff eagerly await, this reunion promises to be a powerful celebration of history, education, and a future filled with promise.

Students, faculty, and staff eager to be part of this experience can sign up for updates and attendance on the tour’s official website.
