Congratulations to Howard University freshman, Kennedy Mack, on becoming the first African American woman to be crowned Ms. Texas Teen USA!

She took to her Instagram account to share her reaction to the win. “It hasn’t completely sunken in yet, but I know it’s real. I started this pageant journey in January and never then thought I’d be Miss Texas Teen USA by the end of the year. This journey has been one that I’ve worked very diligently at because my purpose was larger then myself. I came in Friday wanting to make history. I left Sunday doing that,” said Edwards.

As it stands, Edwards is 2 for 2 when it comes to pageants. Her first pageant was for Miss Houston Teen USA where she took home the crown.

We can’t wait to see what’s next. Congratulations Kennedy!
