There’s nothing like coming together to celebrate each other. Essence magazine does it every February when it hosts its annual Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon to honor and recognize Black women in the entertainment industry.

With this year’s theme being “The Power of Our Presence: Art & Activism,” the 2019 honorees included Jenifer Lewis, Regina Hall, Kiki Layne, and Amandla Stenberg. Photographer Michael Rowe captured the beauty and excellence of attendees who took photos in front of a culturally rich backdrop inspired by Malick Sidibé’s work and created by artist Makeba “KEEBS” Rainey.

As you can imagine, it turned into an overload of Black girl magic. See for yourself.
