On Sunday night, the films “Fences”, “Moonlight”, and “Hidden Figures” all won in a major way at the 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. From Viola Davis winning Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Fences” and paying tribute to “Fences” playwright August Wilson, to Denzel Washington taking home his first SAG award, to Mahershala Ali and Taraji P. Henson accepting their awards for Best Supporting Actor and Best Cast in a Motion Picture with two powerful messages about acceptance and unity. If you missed it, just press play and relive these four amazing moments.

“What August did so beautifully is he honored the average man who happened to be a man of color. Sometimes we don’t have to shake the world and move the world and create anything that is going to be in the history book. The fact that we breathe and live a life and was a god to our children. Just that means that we have a story and it deserves to be told.” – Viola Davis

“My mother is an ordained minister, I’m a Muslim. She didn’t do backflips when I called her to tell her I converted 17 years ago. But I tell you now, we put things to the side, I’m able to see her, she’s able to see me, we love each other, the love has grown. That stuff is minutiae. It’s not that important.”- Mahershala Ali

“I’m a God-fearing man, I’m supposed to have faith, but I didn’t have faith, about winning the award. I didn’t even prepare, but I am prepared.”- Denzel Washington

“This story is about what happens when we put our differences aside and we come together as a human race. We win. Love wins. Every time.”- Taraji P. Henson, accepting the award for Best Cast in a Motion Picture on behalf of the cast of “Hidden Figures”.
