Ryan Coogler's "Black Panther" is officially the highest-grossing superhero movie of all time in the United States. It only took the box office phenomenon 36 days to reach such a milestone.
In its sixth weekend of release, "Black Panther" dethroned its fellow Marvel title "The Avengers'" $623.4 million domestic box office gross by bringing in over $630 million to date, making it also the 5th highest grossing movie of all time domestically. So far, the film has brought in a total of $1.237 billion worldwide.

It has broken several records since its Feburary nationwide release, which include: the highest-grossing movie for 2018, the highest-grossing solo superhero movie, the highest-grossing movie by a Black director, and the best domestic opening for a predominately Black cast.
"Black Panther" also holds the crown as the first movie to go five weeks at #1 since "Avatar" in 2009 and the most tweeted-about movie of all time.
Marvel President Kevin Feige, who already confirmed a "Black Panther" sequel, told EW: "As Panther has so loudly declared, (representation) can only help you, can only help you tell unique stories, can only help you do things in a new, and unique, and fresh, and exciting way. If you do that, audiences will notice it, and appreciate it, and support it."
