Today, on what would have been boxing legend and activist Muhammad Ali’s 76th birthday, Colin Kaepernick announced his “final rounds of $100,000 donations to complete (his) Million Dollar Pledge.”

Back in September of 2016 when he still played for the San Francisco 49ers and was protesting police brutality by kneeling during the National Anthem, Kaepernick made a promise to donate one million dollars to organizations working in oppressed communities. Since then, he has donated $900,000 to 31 organizations.

Now for his final round of $100,000 donations, Kaepernick introduced a 10-day initiative called 10 for 10, where he will be donating $10,000 a day for the next 10 days. This time around, Kaepernick asked his peers what organizations he should donate to.

Chosen by NBA star Kevin Durant, the first recipient of Kaepernick’s 10 for 10 initiative will be Silicon Valley De-Bug, who “initiates and leads campaigns advancing the rights of youth, workers, immigrants and those impacted by police and the criminal justice system.” Durant also matched Kaepernick’s $10,000 donation.
