Author, writer, and activist Goldie Taylor inked a publishing deal for her memoir with Hanover Square Press.
According to Publishers Weekly, the six-figure deal is for a memoir about Taylor’s life, charting the famed editor’s rise from humble beginnings in St. Louis to one of the most sought after journalists in the market.
Taylor was just five years old when her father was murdered in her hometown, and the book will explore her childhood, which was “marred by sexual violence and physical abuse.”

Taylor is currently an editor-at-large at the Daily Beast. Her work has been featured in nearly every media and news outlet, including Salon, Ebony, and The Huffington Post. She has also served as the news executive and political consultant, working as the chief architect behind Procter & Gamble’s “My Black is Beautiful” campaign and pushing marketing for CNN’s “Black in America” special. She has also been featured in the OWN special “Light Girls” and PBS’s “Eyes on the Prize: Then and Now.”
The new memoir is scheduled to hit shelves in winter 2022.
