We love this!

Gabrielle Union just announced that she is releasing a new children’s book, inspired by she and Dwyane Wade’s daughter, Kaavia.

The actress took to Instagram to announce the new book, Welcome to the Party, saying, “This is a very special moment for me, to write my very first children’s book. Since the birth of [Kaavia] I’ve been even more inspired to create stories that are not only representative of the cultural melting pot we live in, but also celebrate life and the fun, teachable lessons that come at every age.”

Union and Wade were transparent about their fertility journey, welcoming baby Kaavia via surrogate in November 2018. Luana Horry, HarperCollins Children’s Books editor spoke to People magazine saying she was excited to partner with Union to release this book to the world. “When I heard about the arrival of Kaavia James, I was touched by the beautiful and loving way her parents introduced her to the public. To work with Gabrielle Union on her unique celebration of parenthood was more than an honor – it was such an enjoyable experience,” Horry said.

This is not Union’s first venture as an author. She is already a New York Times Bestseller, having released her first book, We’re Going to need More Wine: Stories That Are Funny, Complicated, and True, in 2017. This venture makes another great collaboration between mother and daughter. Last year Union released “The Kaavi James” collection in partnership with New York & Company, which features a variety of unisex pieces for infants ages 0 to 24 months.

“This is my love letter for parents everywhere who are excited to welcome their bundle of joy to the party that is life,” Union said.
