Gayle Hayhurst, the former Board Chair and current Director-at-Large for Girl Scouts River Valleys was in search for the perfect candidate and found it in Willams, who will be leaving her position as the CEO for North Hills Affordable Housing (HEARTH) in Pittsburgh, PA. At HEARTH, Williams built organizational systems, created strong partnerships, and made improvements to the HR infrastructure and financial operations. Prior to HEARTH, Williams served five years as the regional executive director at YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh.

“I am excited to become the new CEO of Girl Scouts River Valleys.” She continued on to say, “The Girls Scouts mission to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place uniquely fills the intersection of my passion and purpose. This role puts me on the preventive side of services to support health and wellness, education, entrepreneurship, life skills and self-love of girls,” Williams said, sharing her feelings on her new position.

She will be succeeding Tish Bolger, who announced her retirement earlier this year, wrapping up 23 years of service. Members of the board are ready to welcome Williams with open arms. Girl Scouts River Valleys’ Board Chair Jane Canney said, “She is a forward-thinking, creative, strategic, and results-driven leader with years of leadership experience in non-profit and corporate sectors. She is committed to social impact, advocacy, learning, wellness, and diversity, equity, and inclusion, which aligns with the goals and objectives in our new strategic plan.”

She will assume her new role January 17th. Congratulations, Marisa! You earned it.
