The 35-year-old actress and entertainment mogul has been having a fantastic year. From her new documentary about Black television’s historythe announcement of Hoorae Media, and her 9 Emmy nominations for her work on Insecure and HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show, Rae is unstoppable, even during a pandemic.

Now Rae has been tapped to host the iconic comedy sketch show, Saturday Night Live. The show recently resumed live tapings after months of isolated cast and crew members. Last week, the 46th season premiered, hosted by Chris Rock with musical guest Megan Thee Stallion and Maya Rudolph’s return as Senator and VP hopeful Kamala Harris. Audience members are expected to wear masks and comply with coronavirus protocols, although some wonder if it’s too soon.

Lorne Michaels, the SNL producer since 1975, defended the show’s decision to resume live tapings, saying, “We did a show with anthrax in the building. We did a show after 9/11. That’s what we’ve always done. To our audience, it’s really important we show up.” Cast members will also be required to wear masks unless they are taping.
