Journalist Audie Cornish Set To Host New Show On CNN

She’s diversifying her portfolio!

According to CNN, Journalist Audie Cornish is set to host a new show on their network. 

A veteran journalist, Cornish has been in the business for two decades, most recently serving as a co-host on NPR’s All Things Considered. In 2005, Cornish joined NPR’s National Desk, reporting from Nashville and covering critical news like the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

She went on to join the NPR politics team in Washington, D.C. in 2008, covering the historic election of President Barack Obama and in 2011, was named host of Weekend Edition Sunday. Her interviews include a range of influential figures from Obama to Bruce Springsteen to writer Ta-Nehisi Coates. For her work, Cornish has received a number of honors including a George Peabody Award for her work on David Isay’s StoryCorps 9/11 Project as well as a Sol Taishoff Award for Excellence in Broadcast journalism in 2020 from the National Press Foundation. 

Cornish has continued to be at the cutting edge of issues that matter most to the community, now, she’s taking her talents to CNN. The network recently announced via press release that Cornish will serve as an anchor and correspondent on the new CNN+ streaming subscription service. There, Cornish will host a weekly CNN+ show and serve as a contributor for their live programming. She will also serve as host of a new podcast for CNN Audio, in addition to appearing on the network to cover national, political and breaking news. 

The in-demand journalist spoke about her latest transition, saying, “I am very excited to join CNN and the CNN+ team. There are fresh stories to be told and new ways to tell them. CNN has a dynamic system of reporters and storytelling channels. I am thrilled to be a part of it.”

Andrew Morse, EVP & Chief Digital Officer of CNN Worldwide and Head of CNN+ spoke about Cornish’s appointment, saying, “Her voice has been such an important part of the lives of so many people, and the perspective, integrity and grace that have been hallmarks of her career will make her such an important addition to our teams.”

Cornish is set to step into her new role this February.
