It’s a full circle moment for him!

Georgia State University is set to honor Ludacris with an honorary degree, GSU.edu reports.

Chris “Ludacris” Bridges was just like many other students when he enrolled at classes at Georgia State in the early ‘90s. But soon after, he signed a recording deal with Def Jam records, putting school on pause to pursue a career in the music industry. Ludacris skyrocketed in fame, becoming a legend in music, film and philanthropy. And while he never went back to school, over the years, the rapper has continued to give back, founding The Ludacris Foundation (TLF) to serve youth and families in urban communities.

In 2019, he finally returned to Georgia State, this time as an artist-in-residence with the University’s Creative Media Industries Institute (CMII). There he focused on mentoring students and assisting professors with teaching entrepreneurship in music and film. Ludacris also collaborated with the College of Law on one of its first course offerings titled “The Legal Life of…” Now the Grammy Award winning artist is being honored by Georgia State for his support of the university, commitment to the Atlanta community and his national philanthropic efforts. The University just announced that they will award Ludacris with an honorary Bachelor of Science degree in Music Management at this year’s spring commencement.

“We are proud that Chris Bridges got his start at Georgia State. He has gone on to become a cultural and philanthropic icon, representing Atlanta and giving back in many ways. Our students in the Creative Media Industries Institute (CMII) and College of Law have benefited from learning from his career and we’re excited to honor him as a member of the Panther family,” said Georgia State President M. Brian Blake.

Ludacris says he’s honored to receive the degree and The University System of Georgia Board of Regents has already approved the honorary degree.
