It’s a three-peat for the Lewis sisters and a first for Lawrence County High School in Monticello, Mississippi.

Faith Lewis continued her family’s homecoming queen legacy when she was crowned the 2017-2018 Lawrence County Homecoming Queen last Friday. Her older sisters, Brittany and Jasmine, took home the title in 2008 and 2009 respectively. Brittany shared the news and photos on her Facebook page, along with the caption: “Lawrence County Homecoming Queens 2008-2009 Brittany Lewis, 2009-2010 Jasmine Lewis-Grayer, and 2017-2018 Faith Lewis. What’s better than 1 crown 2? No, 3 especially when they’re from the same last name as you. ‘Legacy, Legacy, Black excellence we gone let them see.’ #becauseofthemwecan”

“We’re the first set of sisters to all have won Homecoming Queen at our high school. Our youngest sister won Lawrence County Homecoming Queen last Friday and my other sister won it in 2009-2010 and I won it the previous year 2008-2009”, Brittany added.

Homecoming queen is much more than a popularity contest, as it is a representation of some of the school’s best and brightest students. As such, schools often times call for each candidate to meet eligibility requirements that are based on attendance, grade point average, and involvement in school.
