A beautiful tribute to a legend is on the way!
Actor and musician Tristan Mack Wilds and director Greg Cally are teaming up to honor the late, great Michael K. Williams with a new creative initiative. The duo announced the launch of the Michael K. Williams Creative Fellowship, a program dedicated to preserving the Emmy-nominated actor’s life, legacy, and lasting cultural influence, Blavity reports.
Widely celebrated for his unforgettable roles in The Wire and Lovecraft Country, Michael K. Williams left an undeniable mark on television and film. Now, nearly 23 years after his iconic character Omar Little first appeared on The Wire, his spirit lives on through this fellowship.
“With the blessing of the estate of Michael K. Williams, it’s our honor to present the Surrounded By Water “Michael K. Williams Fellowship,” where we as a collective pass down the love, dedication and tutelage that Mr. Williams passed down to us, Wilds shared to social media. “This fellowship is open to bipoc actors, producers, directors, writers, and more. Stay tuned for the announcement of our first fellow at our Surrounded By Stories Film Showcase, June 21st at SVA Theater.”
