Last month, Don Gause of Conyers, Georgia experienced a Father’s Day that he will never forget. To mark the occasion, Don’s 11-year-old stepson, Tyler, decided to ask him to legally become his father. Don and Tyler’s father-son relationship started when Tyler was only 18-months-old. Since then, Don has been there for Tyler every step of the way. From taking him to his first day of school, to teaching him valuable lessons, to offering countless words of encouragement.
“I asked Tyler about a year ago if he wanted to be adopted by Don and he was so excited he said yes with the biggest smile ever,” said Tyler’s mom Marcia Gause. “He is very wise for such a young person and has said before that God sent him the Daddy that was really meant for him.”
With the help of his mother, Tyler surprised Don on with a touching letter asking for him to adopt him. Don initially thought someone in his family was having a baby, but the fake baby shower was all a part of the plan.
“Don had no idea what was going on – we wanted to do it as if it was a baby shower because he always says ‘I wish I could have been there when you had my son,'” said Marcia.
