You might have seen a recent viral video of a man breaking up a fight between two teenagers in the streets of New Jersey. It was posted on Facebook on Monday, and since, has received millions of views for its inspirational message to the younger generation. Well now, that same man, 27-year-old Ibn Ali Miller, has been honored by Atlantic City’s city council for his act of peacemaking.
On Wednesday, Miller, who is a father of five, accepted the honor with a heartfelt thank you message to his mother. He shared in his emotional speech, that when he use to get in trouble as a child his mother would make him read books and write a short story or poem. He went on to also thank the mothers of the young boys who were involved in the argument, saying “They raised them to be young men of reason, which seems to be a very, very rare trait in today’s youth.” You can watch the full speech below.
The two boys were also honored along with Miller and expressed their thanks to Miller for intervening; one of the two boys, Jamar Mobley shared: (Miller) said I will not leave until you guys shake hands.”
