“Good job…We saved everybody!”

We know, we know. Halloween is over, the costumes are put away, and Thanksgiving is next week! But we just couldn’t scroll past this super sweet video of Justin Coats making his son, Eli, feel like a hero. 100% in character, the father-son duo were both firemen for the night; their protective gear even included the hard hats!

Dad started a small fire near the front door then rushed in the house for his son’s help. “It’s a fire! It’s a fire! We gotta go save the people,” he told Eli as he wheeled him to the scene. Eli smiled big at the flames, ready to help! “Oh! Look at that fire! Where’s the water? We need the water,” dad continued, not breaking character. He fetched the water hose and Eli reached out for it; it was in that moment our hearts melted! With the help of his dad, he put the fire out and they “saved everybody.”

But little did we know, Eli had spent the entire day living the life of a firefighter. Earlier, he visited a real firetruck and, with the help of dad and a Black woman firefighter, he was able to hold a real water hose while it was on! The joy on his face was unmatched. To top it off, he got to ride horses in his fireman uniform. Like Jason said, “Eli deserves the absolute best!” We couldn’t agree more.
