Our internet nieces and nephews grow up so quickly!

In 2018, Jaycob Linsey was a 6th grader at Ron Clark Academy Middle School in Atlanta, Georgia. It was a normal school day for the children when the class got a special surprise from the administration—they would all be taking a class field trip to see the highly anticipated Black Panther film starring the late Chadwick Boseman. Directed by Ryan Coogler, there was so much anticipation around the Black Superhero film by Marvel, and for those who were kids at the time, the excitement was palpable.

When the class was informed about the surprise field trip, the room erupted with joy. Among the excited shouts, Jaycob’s enthusiasm stood out. He couldn’t contain his excitement, climbing up on his chair and breaking into an impromptu dance, much to the delight of his classmates.

The video of the little boy jigging to the chorus of “Aye, Aye, Aye…yah,” followed by a timely dab, went viral, becoming a cultural moment that spawned memes and gifs and has since become a part of the Black digital lexicon.

Now, that little boy has just graduated high school, popping up again on our social timelines, but this time to flaunt his newly granted diploma! Jaycob’s former school took to social media to share some graduation footage and congratulate him on their stories.

Watch the sweet moment below as Jaycob leaves graduation to greet family and friends, this time not with a dance but a contrived wiggle that lets us know he’s still got it in him! Congratulations!
