This Teacher Uses Dance To Keep His Virtual Students Engaged In Class

Dance, dance education!

Educator and philanthropist, Azel Prather, has his students dancing in their seats - literally. In a post that’s gone viral on Instagram, the PreK and Kindergarten teacher shows off his students moves following their exercise class. He wrote that he uses music and dance to keep the students engaged.

Prather told Because Of Them We Can, 'We do our dance party at the end our our workouts. Kids want to be in class because they know it’s fun. They know we get to dance, be shown on the big screen, while also exercising. Sneaking the medicine in the candy."

The 31-year-old D.C. native is the CEO and founder of The Prather Foundation, which according to the website was “established with a vision to provide a nurturing and safe environment in which children can embrace their identity and reach their fullest potential.”

He's no stranger to finding innovative ways to uplift his students, last year he launched his “Holiday Hook-up” self-care Day for 40 kindergarten students at his school in Washington, DC. He used his connections to identify hair stylists, barbers, nail techs, and other volunteers to assist him in with pampering his students for the day.

He’s definitely lifting his students spirits and bringing joy to us all during this tumultuous year.

Keep going, Azel!
