December 1, 2022

The 20-year-old football player just landed a historic deal.

Shedeur Sanders, son of football star Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders, is putting on for his family name and young athletes nationwide. Since playing at Jackson State University (JSU), Sanders earned the Jerry Rice Award in 2021 as the top FCS freshman, set single-season school records for 32 touchdown passes and 284 completions, passing over 3,000 yards and rushing for a career-high five touchdowns. He was recently named SWAC Offensive Player of The Year and became a finalist among other HBCU players for the Heisman Trophy.

The quarterback recently reached an even bigger feat: becoming the first and only HBCU athlete to have their own officially licensed jersey. Under Armour already has a strong standing relationship with Coach Sanders and the JSU athletic department, but now they’re taking it up a notch with the limited release of 100 signature Shedeur Sanders jerseys.

Last summer, college athletes got the stamp of approval for profiting off their name, image, likeliness (NIL) and Sanders has managed to land brand deals with companies like Gatorade, Beats by Dre, Brady Brand, Oikos and PLB Sports & Entertainment. This jersey deal is just the beginning!

JSU has had a phenomenal football season, but it isn’t over yet. The team is preparing for the SWAC championship game against Southern.
