Angel Reese is building more than a basketball legacy. The Chicago Sky star and Cash App have partnered once again, this time giving Chicago something lasting to celebrate — a brand-new community basketball court at Oakwood Beach.
The project was made possible through a collaboration with Project Backboard, a nonprofit that revitalizes public basketball courts to uplift neighborhoods, and the Angel C. Reese Foundation, which focuses on empowering girls and women through sports, education, and financial literacy.
“This court is more than just a place to hoop,” Reese shared. “It’s a space where girls can see what’s possible for them on and off the court.” The newly renovated court isn’t just about the game — it’s about creating a visible, vibrant space for young girls to dream big, stay active, and build community.
This isn’t Reese’s first time making an impact off the court. The 23-year-old has made community work a priority, creating a financial literacy program for high school students in her hometown of Baltimore and recently becoming a co-owner of DC Power Football Club, a new women’s pro soccer team in the nation’s capital.
Reese added, “I’m so proud to partner with Cash App to give back to the city I’ve fallen in love with in such a meaningful way.”
This latest move is part of a shared commitment to increasing access and opportunity in sports for young girls, and judging by the energy on that court, it’s already working.
