Beyoncé
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter was born in Houston, Texas and began performing in singing and dancing competitions as a child. As the lead singer of Destiny's Child, she became one of the biggest pop stars of the late 1990s. Her solo career has eclipsed even those heights.
With albums like B'Day, 4, Beyoncé, Lemonade, and Renaissance, she has consistently pushed artistic boundaries while centering Black culture, feminism, and Southern identity. Her visual album Lemonade (2016) was a meditation on Black womanhood, infidelity, and resilience that became a cultural touchstone. Her 2018 Coachella performance, dubbed "Beychella," was the first by a Black woman to headline the festival and incorporated HBCU marching band culture on a global stage.
Beyoncé is the most awarded artist in Grammy history with 32 wins. She is also a businesswoman, co-owning entertainment company Parkwood and fashion brand Ivy Park. Through her BeyGOOD Foundation, she has funded scholarships, disaster relief, housing initiatives, and small Black-owned businesses.
"I don't like to gamble, but if there's one thing I'm willing to bet on, it's myself."— Beyoncé
