Spike Lee is bringing a new film festival to Brooklyn.
The legendary filmmaker has teamed up with Clara Wu Tsai, producer Nicholas Ma, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music to launch Playback: The Brooklyn Watch Party, a two-day festival celebrating the artists, storytellers, and communities that have helped make Brooklyn one of the most culturally influential places in the world, BAM reports.
The inaugural festival will take place November 6 and 7 at BAM. According to Time Out, the event will include film screenings, conversations with cultural icons, live performances, pop-up experiences, and a free street fair celebrating Brooklyn’s creative spirit.

For Lee, the festival is a natural fit. The Oscar-winning filmmaker has spent decades putting Brooklyn on screen, from She’s Gotta Have It to Do the Right Thing and Crooklyn.
The weekend will close with a special screening of Crooklyn, with appearances by Lee, Alfre Woodard, and additional guests, BroadwayWorld reports.
Tickets are expected to go on sale in September, with more curators, speakers, and programming details to be announced.
Brooklyn, film, culture, and Spike Lee? Say less.
