She’s already iconic!
10-year-old North West inherited the spotlight from the womb. The daughter of two of this generation’s most famous celebrities, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, she is rightfully sitting on a throne that’s hers for the taking. Recently, i-D unveiled its new cover featuring the “princess of pop culture.” It’s North’s very first solo cover, and she sat down with the magazine to talk about basketball, style, all things fashion, and why she’s part of the New Wave of culture.
It’s the first interview for North, and you can already tell she’s a star. When asked what three words she would use to describe herself, North responds, “Umm…The Best Ever. She also says her favorite song is her Dad’s “Through the Wire,” but said she’s her own style icon.
North is a typical 10-year-old girl, some of her favorite things being basketball and the fact that she got to do her own edges for the photo shoot. She also reveals glimpses into her Hollywood lifestyle, that she doesn’t like being photographed by the paparazzi, and that her favorite wardrobe item is the Michael Jackson jacket she got for Christmas. It’s a lifestyle North seems acutely aware that she should be grateful for.
“Describe your life in three words,” asks the interviewer.
“Blessed, awesome, cool,” replies North.
The budding icon also explores her dreams for when she gets older, revealing she wants to be a basketball player. However, in true West fashion, she doesn’t stop there; she has a career trajectory in mind that will take her straight to the top. And if she’s anything like her parents, she’ll have a legion of fans supporting her all the way.
“[I want to be] a basketball player, a rapper, um…Well, when I was seven, I wanted to be a boxer. But now I don’t want to be a boxer. I’m going to do art on the side. When I’m like, thirteen, I want to walk dogs, to make money to buy art supplies, because everything around here is so expensive. So a rapper, a basketball player, and I’m going to make artwork that I sell. Also, one day I want to own Yeezy and SKIMS, and I want to be a business owner,” she told reporters.
