More Black superheroes is always a YES for us!

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is set to executive produce “Trill League,” a Black superhero animated series, in partnership with Lionsgate on the new entertainment platform, Quibi, Variety reports.

“Trill League” is based on the graphic novel by Anthony Piper. The series centers around a group of Black superheroes, merging the worlds of anime and hip hop culture. The rapper turned actor is executive producing the series alongside Jermaine Johnson of 3 Arts Entertainment in conjunction with Piper and Jameel Saleem who served as writers and co-creators of the novel. Jackson’s G-Unit Film is partnering with Lionsgate TV to helm the project.

The series is about a “league of Black superheroes in an era of social justice and internet trolls, tasked with saving the world from monsters, super villains and haters of all kinds.”

The entertainment platform Quibi will stream “Trill League” and about a dozen other series currently slated for production. Quibi boasts short form videos described as “quick bite content,” and is set to launch April 2020.

“I am excited to bring G-Unit Film & Television to an innovative platform like Quibi with my partners at Lionsgate and 3 Arts. Anthony Piper and Jameel Saleem have created a world we haven’t seen before in ‘Trill League,’ looking forward to sharing it soon,” Jackson said.

Jackson has a bevy of successful projects under his belt including the hit show Power on the Starz network. We are expecting no different with this new project as he dives into the world of animation.

Quibi will also feature projects with Tyra Banks, Don Cheadle and Idris Elba, boasting an array of partners including Laurence Fishburne, Antoine Fuqua and Stephen Curry’s Unanimous Media.

No word yet on when “Trill League” will air. We can’t wait!
