April 16, 2025

The Met Gala has always been fashion’s most exclusive night—but this year, it’s making history with a theme rooted in culture, legacy, and unapologetic style. The 2025 theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” marks the Met’s first menswear-focused exhibit in over 20 years and centers the timeless impact of the Black dandy.

To honor the moment, Vogue’s May issue is putting Black excellence front and center. In collaboration with GQ, the cover and suiting portfolio spotlight an all-star lineup across fashion, film, music, sports, and fine art—featuring the likes of Teyana Taylor, Janelle Monáe, LaKeith Stanfield, A’ja Wilson, Spike Lee, Dapper Dan, Anok Yai, Law Roach, and many more.

This year’s Gala co-chairs—A$AP Rocky, LeBron James, Pharrell Williams, and Colman Domingo—represent a new era of cultural influence and creative brilliance. In his Vogue interview, A$AP Rocky returns to his Harlem roots, joined by his grandmother Cathy, and reflects on the exhibit’s deeper meaning: “I’m looking forward to seeing everybody celebrate Black excellence… The exhibition feels genuine… and very, very, very—important.”

Colman Domingo, a May cover star and part of The Making of the May Issue feature, puts it plainly: “This issue is a historic moment in the life of Vogue.” And we couldn’t agree more.
