We love to see it!
Ironheart, executive produced by Ryan Coogler, officially premiered June 24 on Disney+ and has quickly claimed the title of the #1 show on the platform. The Marvel series centers a young Black woman lead, with actress Dominique Thorne stepping into the spotlight as Riri Williams, and the love for her performance is pouring in.
First introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the series follows Riri, a brilliant inventor and engineer from Chicago, as she balances building her own powerful suit while navigating the dangers and expectations that come with being a young Black woman genius in a world that isn’t always ready for her.
Since the premiere, Dominique Thorne has been receiving her well-deserved flowers. The 27-year-old actress, known for powerful roles in If Beale Street Could Talk and Judas and the Black Messiah, is now front and center in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and her performance has earned the praise of one of the franchise’s most iconic faces — Robert Downey Jr.
“Miss Thorne, I couldn’t be happier than to be seeing you bring Riri Williams to life,” Robert Downey Jr. told her during a recent GMA appearance.
The first three episodes of Ironheart are now streaming on Disney+. Let’s continue to rally behind this series!
