She’s earned it!
Between recently creating a development program for Black digital creators, opening her fourth coffee shop in the L.A. area, and appearing in the new Barbie movie, Issa Rae has been and continues to be on a roll.
Now Rae is set to receive her rightfully earned flowers with The Peabody Trailblazer Award at the 2023 Peabody Awards this summer. This prestigious award is dedicated to individuals who “are impacting our culture and affecting social change through their innovative storytelling.”
Executive director of The Peabody Awards, Jeffery Jones, stated, “Issa Rae has proven herself a profound entertainment storyteller, performer, and force for good. We’re thrilled to recognize Issa and Lily for not only their extraordinary contributions to storytelling, but also for their important role and place for women in comedy and entertainment.”
