R&B Legend Dionne Warwick Confirms Biopic With Teyana Taylor As The Star

March 5, 2021

Shut the front door!

The Dionne Warwick confirmed that a biopic about her life starring Teyana Taylor is in the works, Madame Noire reports.

Late last year, the iconic songstress Warwick joined Twitter chiming in on current topics and wooing us with her wit and charm. In the midst of her tweets, she revealed that the only person she could ever see playing her in a biopic was singer and actress, Teyana Taylor.

“This is a case for @netflix. Please don’t ask who I would cast to play me as it would obviously be @TeyanaTaylor,” Warwick wrote.

The Netflix Twitter account then promptly responded “taking notes,” with Taylor sharing the exchange via social media, humbled to be mentioned by Warwick. “One thing about them doors…They open,” Taylor wrote.

Fans of both singers agreed their resemblance was uncanny and thought the suggestion was a good idea but no one could’ve guessed it would materialize this quick. But here we are! During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Warwick confirmed that the project is in the works with Taylor already on board.

“It’s going to be a series, we’re planning to do an episodic type of a show. [Teyana] is certainly a talented young lady with whom I’ve had the pleasure of interfacing. In fact, we had a conversation last night on the telephone. She’s very excited about the prospect of being involved and she’s also going to be very, very much involved in directing it and putting together parts and parcel of how we see this going,” Warwick said.

Taylor has been in the limelight since she was a teenager, having success in music, film and fashion. This news comes just as Taylor announced she was stepping away from the music industry to pursue other endeavors.

No word yet on when the Warwick biopic will air, but we can’t wait!

Congratulations Teyana! And thank you for everything Ms. Warwick!
