Back in August, E News announced that ABC network would be airing their live version of The Little Mermaid stage musical.
ABC made the announcement during the 2019 Television Critics Association press tour. The live broadcast features Auli’i Cravalho (Moana) as Ariel, pop star Shaggy as Sebastian and Queen Latifah as Ursula.
Karey Burke, an ABC executive said the live musical will combine live action with animation and puppetry as a part of The Wonderful World of Disney franchise. While this version is not associated with Disney’s upcoming remake starring singer and songwriter Halle Bailey, it is just as exciting!
Now Shadow and Act is reporting that we have a first look of THE Queen Latifah as Ursula. Check out a clip of her rendition of “Poor Unfortunate Souls” below.

The Little Mermaid Live! will air on ABC Nov. 5 at 8pm in honor of the 30th anniversary of the animated movie.
We LIVE for Queen Latifah as Ursula and will be glued to our TV’s watching!
