What a wild ride!

A 13-year-old just became the 2020 Junior World Bull Riding Champion, Fox 5 DC reports.

Nicholas Jackson just made history, winning the 2020 Junior World Bull Riding Finals in Texas. The Maryland native is the first champion from the Northeast to hold the title. Young Nicholas has been riding for a while and spoke candidly about his first time.

“The first time I ever did it, it was a whole mix of different things; I was excited, I was a little scared but not too much,” Nicholas told reporters.

The young teen is a 5th generation cowboy on his mom’s side. His father, Corey Jackson, said people are always surprised to learn that they’re from Maryland, not realizing that there are cowboys from the area. Bull riders have to stay up for 8 sec to win, and Nicholas’ father called it an “avalanche of emotions” watching his son ride.

“Me and his mom are Nick’s biggest fans. To be a great young man, first and foremost, that’s what I love most about him,” Corey said of his son.

The two plan to continue riding the wave, entering into many more competitions and continuing the bull riding all over the nation. Corey said this is just the first of many champions for Nicholas.

Congratulations, Nick!
