She’s finally telling her story!
For decades, Marla Gibbs has been a beloved television icon. The Emmy-nominated, NAACP Image Award-winning actress is best known for her unforgettable roles as Florence on The Jeffersons and Mary on 227. Now, at 94 years old, she’s getting ready to share her remarkable journey in her debut memoir.
Titled It’s Never Too Late, the book, set for release in early 2026, reflects on Gibbs’ difficult childhood, her bold move to Los Angeles, and her tireless fight for fairness and creative freedom in Hollywood. It’s more than just a personal story, it’s a blueprint for resilience and reinvention.
“I believe no matter the challenges one faces, it is never too late to turn your life around or make a difference,” Gibbs told PEOPLE. “I am grateful and ready to reveal the challenges I overcame as a way of service to those who wish to transform their tests into testimonies.”
It’s Never Too Late will be published on February 24, 2026, and is available for preorder now wherever books are sold.
