She’s just keeps on paying it forward!

Quinta Brunson has partnered with Box Tops to give back to educators, Fast Company reports.

The Abbott Elementary creator has been making sure to honor educators in everything she does, recently partnering with Scholastic and Good Morning America to give over $60,000 worth of resources to a school in Philadelphia and using a portion of the show’s marketing budget to get school supplies for teachers in need. While the show has absolutely struck a chord with viewers, making history as the first ABC comedy to quadruple its ratings after its initial debut, Brunson’s commitment to extending her impact off the screen to the teachers doing the work who inspire her comedy has resonated even more.

Brunson spoke openly about the reactions from teachers who love her show, saying she is just happy she’s making good television that the whole family can watch.

“That was the goal in creating Abbott, making a funny show that people can enjoy watching with their families. And while it is incredible that educators feel validated and seen, to me that’s just the byproduct of the work we do in the writers’ room. [We’re] just trying to make sure we’re doing very good storytelling. But also that [teachers] have something to watch after a hard day’s work, where they’re able to take a load off and enjoy the show with their families,” said Brunson.

Now Brunson has announced a new partnership with General Mills’ Box Tops for Education, just in time for Teacher Appreciation Month. While everyone is showing their thanks to teachers everywhere this May, Brunson and her team are joining in with Box Tops. Shoppers can use the Box Tops for Education app to scan receipts showing they’ve purchased  various Box Tops labeled goods. New app users will have the option to donate $5 toward the school of their choice from their first receipt using the code “TeachersMakeUsBetter,” every other subsequent receipt donating Box Tops normal 10 cents per label. In conjunction with Brunson, Box Tops will also be giving away $20,000 to the comedian’s former elementary school in Philadelphia, Andrew Hamilton.

“I thought it was a wonderful opportunity to get everyone involved helping teachers this Teacher Appreciation Month. I remember Box Tops being such a big part of my education, and after reading more about their mission – which is to make sure that children’s education is the foundation of achieving their fullest potential – that’s what I’ve always gotten from this initiative. It really benefits both students and teachers who play such an instrumental role in that development,” Brunson told reporters.

Abbott Elementary is currently greenlit for a second season and Brunson said she plans to keep giving back. Not only does she have her running partnership with Scholastic, she also has plans to create even more initiatives benefiting educators next season.

“There’s going to be more laughs and fun, of course…During this first season we went around in the mobile teacher’s lounge to different schools, carrying supplies but also giving them a place to rest. So I’m sure we’ll be able to do more stuff like that this season,” she explained.

Thanks for all you’re doing, Quinta! Happy Teacher’s Appreciation Month to all the educators out there!
